Working Cuff Buttonholes

Working Cuff Buttonholes

In years past, suits were worn for many different purposes. It was often the case that manual workers would need to roll up the sleeves of their jackets while working.

To make this possible, cuff buttons were designed to be functional so they could be easily unfastened. I insist on all my suits having working cuff buttonholes; whether you use them or not, it’s a little touch that sets the garment apart from the cheap mass produced suits usually seen today.

In high class tailoring houses, the cuffs have always had working cuff buttonholes, but the ready to wear market went for the cheaper and easier to produce sham holes.
