Semi Bespoke Suit

“Semi Bespoke” means that your suit is made to your specific measurements and individual requirements using a combination of Savile Row and modern tailoring techniques. It provides the perfect stepping stone between ready to wear and the ultimate luxury of Savile Row Bespoke.

Quality and choice

Our Semi Bespoke uses high quality internals and trimmings, very similar to our bespoke suits.

The front parts of the jackets are made up of layers of horsehair canvas (stitched in and not fused). The whole lapel area is padded (stitched with hundreds of tiny stitches) and curled as it is stitched to give permanent shape and a nice roll to the lapels.

  • Available in over 3000 cloths, varying in colour, weight, weave and finish
  • Near limitless number of possible combinations
  • Working cuff buttonholes

Making the suit

Your suit will be made utilising the latest technological advancements, coupled with the finest classical tailoring techniques. Your measurements, along with your “figuration” (the way you stand, shoulder slope, hip heights, any prominent parts, etc) are taken into account. The cloth, linings and canvasses are then hand cut to your requirements. Once this is done, the parts are sewn together by skilled craftspeople.

The garments are tried on and fitted mid way through construction and again on completion to ensure the finished garment fits perfectly.

Canvassed Chest and Lapel

In a similar manner to my full bespoke suits, my semi bespoke garments have a strong under-structure built of layers of horse tail hair, wool, and mohair canvas. These layers of canvas give exemplary body and shape to the jacket that cheaper methods of manufacturing cannot achieve.

These canvasses are stitched together using sophisticated machinery that shapes them to the contours of your body and fixes this shape for the life of the suit. The canvas runs into the lapel of the jacket and which is also padded with thousands of tiny unseen stitches to give it a graceful roll.

The result is a jacket with unparalleled structure without uncomfortable stiffness. It has body and elegant shape that doesn’t collapse with wear.

Working Cuff Buttonholes

In years past, suits were worn for many different purposes. It was often the case that manual workers would need to roll up the sleeves of their jackets while working.

To make this possible, cuff buttons were designed to be functional so they could be easily unfastened. I insist on all my suits having working cuff buttonholes; whether you use them or not, it’s a little touch that sets the garment apart from the cheap mass produced suits usually seen today.

In high class tailoring houses, the cuffs have always had working cuff buttonholes, but the ready to wear market went for the cheaper and easier to produce sham holes.

Cut to your Size and Shape

Many semi bespoke and made to measure suits available today are little more than off the peg size suits with the chest, waist, seat, and sleeve lengths altered to fit.

My version of semi bespoke is something else entirely. Based on my years of experience on Savile Row, the suit is cut to your unique figuration as well as to your size.

Even if four different people have the same measurements, the variance in the way they stand, their body shape, and their stature could mean that they all require a separate unique cut to fit them.

My semi bespoke is cut, not just to your size, but also to your shape for exceptional fit and comfort.

Worlds Finest Modern Tailoring Techniques

My semi bespoke suits are a combination of classic tailoring techniques and the best of modern technology.

These suits are cut and constructed to exceptional standards in one of the worlds most highly regarded factories here in England. We employ a huge team of experienced craftsmen and women and use millions of pounds worth of sophisticated machinery.

Each of our hand operated sewing machines has been specially designed to mimic the way a handcrafted suit is made. Whilst it is impossible to achieve the same level of quality as our full bespoke suits, I can offer you an exquisitely crafted suit of a very high standard that provides the perfect stepping stone between ready to wear and full bespoke.
